Karen Andruzis has been volunteering at WVIS for forty-five years. That’s right-45 years. She started her career there upon graduating from Nitro High School and has never worked elsewhere.
She has been a resident of Cross Lanes for more than 50 years and has been an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nitro for all these years as well.

Karen is very kind and giving and is a social butterfly. She talks to everyone. One of her favorite pastimes is walking her neighborhood and talking to everyone she meets. She greatly enjoys playing her organ and keyboard. (She self-taught herself how to play as a young girl.) For a time, she played the organ during church services at Holy Trinity. She also enjoys spending time with her sister, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, and many friends.
Throughout the years Karen has done many helpful things for WVIS, such as cleaning, cooking, making up beds, setting tables, mailings, etc. The list goes on and on. For more than 40 years Karen worked mostly five days a week. The only time she missed was for a year and a half when the Covid virus hit in 2020. She returned to WVIS this past summer and is now working one day a week.

If you ever meet Karen, she will never forget you or your name. Karen knows everyone and everyone knows Karen.
