Advanced Certificate in Spiritual Direction Supervision

This program facilitates education, enrichment, and hands-on experiences. It consists of:
- Personal growth and formation in the art of supervision
- Knowledge and reflection exercises on models of supervision
- Improved communication skills within the context of the helping relationship
- Discernment of one’s call to the ministry of supervision in spiritual direction
- Practica and supervision in directing the Spiritual Exercises in a retreat setting
This program is available to laity, religious, and clergy of all faith traditions. It consists of lectures, required reading, group process, theological reflection, integration, professional identity, ethics, and individual supervision.
Prerequisites for program:
- Be in spiritual direction
- Hold a certificate in spiritual direction training
- Have directed a minimum of three years post certification
- Submit two letters of reference
- Submit two letters documenting your experience in facilitating directed retreats
- Complete online application for advanced certificate in supervision
- Interview with Executive Director; exceptions discussed with Executive Director
Tuition: $1,500 with modest scholarships available
Participants receive 45 hours of coursework as part of three modules. These modules are held over the course of 3 semesters and provide opportunities for practicum experience in supervision. In addition to coursework, 300 hours of supervision is required.
