sun beamsCelebrate the Spirit (CTS) began in 2018 and has evolved into an on-going program noteworthy for its creative efforts in relapse prevention and its unlimited future potential. WVIS Associate Spiritual Directors and friends of WVIS are dedicated to serving the recovery community and focusing on the spirituality of the Twelve Steps. The goal of the planning committee of CTS is to offer our experience strength and hope to patients residing at the AHC unit and support aftercare in the community of Charleston (WV) where patients can make personal contacts and find support programs for continued recovery.

Each Thursday morning, a small group of CTS volunteers facilitate a gathering via Zoom with the patients in the Addiction Healing Center (AHC) at St. Francis Hospital (in Charleston). For ninety minutes, the men and women in treatment are engaged in dialogue and spiritual guidance in their efforts to heal from alcohol and drug addiction. Those leading the meeting engage in listening to the sacred stories of those in recovery and offer suggestions for maintaining sobriety and avoiding relapse. WVIS is grateful to the hospital staff of St. Francis for allowing unprecedented access to the patients in treatment there.

Additionally, one Saturday morning every other month, CTS and AHC offer a workshop which is focused on the spirituality of the Twelve Steps. On Saturday, March18th, our next program will focus on the theme: “Home for the Holidays: Embracing the Miracles!” As always, this is in collaboration between the Addiction Healing Center at St. Francis and The WV Institute for Spirituality.
