Everyday Sacred:
Engaging Spirituality through Scripture and the Christian Tradition“Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.”

Would you like to deepen your faith life and/or grow closer to God but aren’t sure where to begin?
Are you someone who feels like you’re too ordinary to ever be holy?
Have you ever pondered about how to transition from the faith of your childhood to an adult faith that can offer solace and an anchor in the face of life’s difficulties?
Would you like to get more comfortable with the Bible but don’t know how?
Would you value an encounter with the core beliefs shared across Christian communities that would reveal their relevance for your everyday living?

WVIS is offering a program that invites participants to explore the elements of their own spirituality, and create, expand, and adapt a personal life-changing spirituality that is rooted in Scripture and nourished by the wisdom of Christian tradition.
Everyday Sacred is an eight-module program across two semesters. Led by trained faculty, participants will learn about and experience spirituality. This program welcomes participants from all Christian backgrounds—Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Evangelical, and others—honoring the rich diversity of the Body of Christ.
Following an introduction to spirituality, modules include the theory, history, and practice of prayer, reading and praying with the Bible, what it means to be human, and how different Christian traditions understand the nature of God and the mystery of the Trinity.
Each module includes both informational and formational experiences. Additional suggested readings will be offered for those desiring to go deeper.
“Engaged” spirituality is not just for Sundays or specific prayer times but encompasses all of life: one’s exterior life of work, leisure, family, relationships, physical health, culture, and global events – and one’s inner life: thoughts, emotions, psyche, inner wounds, deep desires, and profound longings for “the more”—more love, more life, more of God.
8 module program begins Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Eastern). Additional Saturday dates are: October 11, November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 14, and April 11.
All sessions will be recorded and all registered participants will receive links to presentations.
