2024 Lent Retreat via Zoom

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
~ Matthew 17:20

A time to be rooted more deeply into the mystery, love, and care of God.

For many home gardeners, nurseries, and garden centers now is the time for germinating seeds. It is a time to allow seeds, with proper nourishment, air, warmth, and light to sprout, take root, and develop in readiness and strength so they are ready to be planted into gardens and flower beds to mature and bear fruit. Proper germination time is important for a plant to develop well and be abundant.

Jesus understood this when he compared the word of God to a seed that falls on rich soil, is heard and embraced with a generous and good heart, and bears fruit through patience; and when he spoke of the powerful potential of the mustard seed that is smaller than all the seeds.

Again Jesus said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” (Mark 4:30-32)

We are seeds of God’s love planted in the heart of God, and like all seeds, require time to be set in quiet and nourished by the breath, light, and warmth of God so we can continue to grow, mature, and bear fruit in our relationship with God and others.

WVIS invites you to such a time of quiet, prayer, and reflection at this year’s Lenten Retreat offered via Zoom.
